Optical Illusions on business cards

Hello all, I was wondering if an optical illusion could be created on a business card. I am planning to make my own visiting card and I want to innovate. I am planning of creating an optical illusion on it so that it would draw the attention of the people. Any inputs/suggestions on this would be really appreciated. Should I use any special software or a normal digital imprint would suffice?

I think that's a great thing to have on business cards, because it's very unique and they can easily recognize that it's you.

I do think there are hologram stickers or boards that you can print on. Or you could just stick a hologram sticker on your business card. There's a lot ways to make a catchy business card. And it's wise for a business man to have a uniquely designed, eye-catching business card that can easily be identified to him.

Hi, my interest is piqued by that suggestion. Any specific softwares that could make those holograms?

I think it needs a special kind of paper and film to produce a hologram effect. I know that it can't be done using computerprinters alone, there's a process n making it, which m not really familiar with.

Those are the ones that I've seen so far. The ones that have like a hologram base, and you notice some switching images on it. That's an eye-catching option for sure, but is not my favorite one. I guess it depends on the kind of job you're into.

It's unique and I believe that it is going to make the business card to really stand out. You can't deny this fact that it is one of the ways that the business card will look different from what we have around as well.

Yes, because it's my first time hearing that one, and I think that would be wonderful if you will start a business card like that.

Obviously, I agree, that's going to be a stand out card. However, more than just an eye-catching card, it can be annoying, because if the card is not well done, it doesn't allow to look at the important part, which is the address or phone number. So, if you go with a risky/innovative card is good to make sure that you are hiring someone who really knows how to do it.

It is both unique and easy to remember and people may want to keep it for longer when it looks great.

I agree with you, it is something that is not easy to forget.

You would probably walk around with the business card that is edited or having some uniqueness as being seen with it might seem "cool".

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes, it can even reflect on lights or sunlight because the surface of it is reflectible.

This is even more awesome. looking forward to meeting someone that can give me such a business card as I would treat it specially.

I agree with you. But, it would be useless if it's not planned and made well. So, I suggest hire someone to do it if you can't.

That's what I'm talking about. Sometimes a pop-up card, or hologram one, or 3D card ends up being completely damaged, because the special effect doesn't allow to see the info. Maybe because it's too reflective, or colors are too vibrant, or letters get blurry, but in the end, it doesn't work. So, the main job is too look for someone with experience on the area, so you can have a proper working card.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

knnon
You make a great point. Those fancy cards can and will get damaged easily. And you're right that the reflective quality of it might sometimes make it harder to read the info on a card. This is why it's better to have a simple card that works and looks better.

I agree with you, it makes you different from the other "usual" business cards.

Having a uniquely made business card would show your creativity and that's a good thing. It would make your business card stand out from the rest.

Whatever you are planning to do should have a preview to be sure that you are doing something which will work pretty fine for you as well. Having an optical illusion on your business card is something that is good as long as you do it right.

Definitely sounds unique and I think it would help you stand out from your competitors without a doubt.

Some business card printers allow you to do a test "sample" card with the design you've mocked up, so maybe you should check and see if any in your local area allow that. Then, you'd be able to see for free if the optical illusion turned out the way you intended on the card.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree with you, some people actually hire you because of your presentation in your business card.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Presentation is a big thing because it defines who you are as your own brand. Even without being associated with any company you are known as your own self in the manner you treat your outlook.

I have to agree people have this certain positive look if you give them an attractive business card and the reverse if they receive a run down, home printed and cut business card.

With a good and unique business card, there's no doubt that you can have a bigger chance to win that deal or job that you want. I agree that making a sample testing if optical illusions would work in your business cards will help you think if it is has a positive or negative feedback.

That's a great idea. Just make sure that your business card can be of great use. Also, make sure that upon planning to have your own, the one should do it should have a proper plan and right skills to achieve optical illusion.

I have never heard about optical illusion before to a business card and I find that idea to be unique and an recitative way to let other people use a business card. I will surely be attracted if someone will give me such a good business card since it is very rare and not very common to have nowadays.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Me too. I might get hooked up to it because of its unique features. Truly, it is an assest to input such creative idead into a business card. On that way, people will tend to remember you when they needed some services that they might like.

It's a hologram effect, in which colors and designs would vary depending on the angle and lighting. It's like the VISA and MasterCard Logos of credit cards.

I haven't heard of an optical illusion on business cards, I'm sure this will be very unique. Business cards that are unique sticks to the mind. If you don't know much about this, it would be best to hire a professional. Business cards need careful planning.

Sometimes it is just better to organize a graphic designer to design your business card. For professionalism it can really give you a sleek look that stands out for sure.

You have a very good point. Some business cards that I've seen are actually just very simple. It's a logo of the company in front and the name and contact number/email at the back. Just that, it's very clean.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Alymae
I actually think that this types of business cards are good. The simpler it is, the better. I saw a card before that is simple but looks elegant and professional. A business card for me doesn't necessarily need to have a lot of things on it. The important part is the relevant information. It needs to be professional but should stand out.

Optical illusions on a business card are such a great idea. I never thought of that idea before for a business card and when I checked it on the internet, it seemed wonderful! However, I am not aware of any software or app that you can use for this. You can do some research online and ask some experts.

It is a great idea. It feels like going with the Big names of the industry with logos with hidden meanings or interesting designs. It should probably be printed on a high quality paper to serve its purpose well.

The business card should still look clean and professional. The look of the business card should be related to the business you're promoting. Wouldn't it feel trippy if you add optical illusions? But I guess it would be nice if the business is into magic tricks or entertainment.

It is a good idea to have an a creative mind when it comes to designing a businesscard. However, make sure that the business card you will create is still have all the important details and looks neat and professional.

It is really a good idea to stand out among the rest with being creative in making your own business card. My only concern is that it should not to let the optical illusion effect be a distraction for them to be able to read whatever information you are about to put on the card. Nevertheless, it is a very good idea.

That’s a true point you make, about the other important information still being easy to read. That should always be number one in any business card design — a cool design is great but if you can’t easily read the other info there’s not much purpose in even having business cards.

I agree with you. Well, with the creativity that you have on your business card, the person who received it should be curious about you and would be able to contact you as soon as possible.

I've seen some Business Cards which have shiny hologram like logos similar to the Visa and Mastercard logos in Credit Cards. But I don't think that it was created using printers. I think it was printed on a press.

Well this is such a wonderful idea. Optical illusions are very interesting and I am quite sure that it will really draw attention. I'm not sure on how optical illusions were made but you can search one from the internet, there are a lot of different cool optical illusions that you could use.

Yes your business card is an important part of your business. It doesn't only serve as a form of advertising, it brings you customers close to you as well. You should do your best to design a business card that is appropriate for your business. If optical illusions fit within the theme of your business, by all means do it. But more important than that is assuring that your customers get their money's worth when they eventually get sold on the pimped up business card.

Optical illusions aren’t exactly the easiest things to just make up. It depends on what sort of optical illusion you’re thinking, but as far as I’m aware, your average designer isn’t going to really know how to just create an optical illusion out of thin air. It would take either an incredibly skilled designer with a vast knowledge of visual manipulation, or you’d have to use an already well-known optical illusion.

That being said, even as a graphic designer myself, I don’t really know how one would go about making an optical illusion look aesthetically pleasing, particularly on a business card.

I agree that if we don't have some knowledge to have a great business card then it is much better to hire some professionals to do the work for us so that we can come up on the great designs that we really like. It may just be costly at some point but then I am sure that we will really be satisfied about it.

Well i dont think that creating Optical illusions on a business card is such a great idea. Although i agree that it will be a very new concept but there is a huge scope of getting it all wrong. If the optical illusion is not that impressive then the client may have second thoughts about your buisness. However if you are working in a creative field then the optical illusion card can make some sense. I dont think that a simple buisness card will do a lesser job than a card with optical illusion when it comes to giving your professional information to your clients.

I support this idea! I think having optical illusions on a business card would make it really stand out. I am just not entirely sure about the software that would be needed for this project, and it would most likely be a difficult job. Nevertheless, it's a novel idea that's definitely worth trying.

Sometimes we need to be creative if we want to attract more people to use some business cards because it is becoming obsolete already to some areas or location. I know that it might be tough to create some designs that would makes people more attracted to it but I know we can make it if we will have the patience to do some creativity.

Even if you just use normal software as long as you can create an idea that includes optical illusions. You need creativity and skills for that tho or you may want to hire someone to do that for you.

Go for what you wanted to do. Experimenting is not a bad thing at least you tried. I think it would be very interesting if you add optical illusions in your card. It is unique and people will become very interested to it for sure.

An optical illusion on a business card feels a little overdone? Maybe just go with a creative illustration instead? Business cards are supposed to be a glimpse into you as a professional and an opitical illusion feels a little childlike. Also it may be too expensive to do.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
@mark8625 Yes that is really true and I agree with you, we should do whatever we want to do as long as it gives us some benefits and to other people around us. It is good to have some experiment and do some creativity because we can have an idea if that particular experiment would be acceptable and attractive.

Earlier today I was thinking of how to improve my business cards and I googled a lot of materials to find out that business cards that are made by a printing press have a much higher graphic quality than those printed by inkjet or laser printers.

Your Idea is great. Its good to create something that will make your client will remember you because of your uniqueness. Its best if you ask or request to make it possible to a store that really makes business card. If they advised that they have app that they usually used, I guess its best that you try this on your own and explore what kind of style of optical illusion design you desire.

Hey there.
Amazing idea, but I believe it's hard to execute. I'd just go for the help of someone who excels at this sort of things. Until I'll be ready to do it myself. Such things require time to educate yourself.

This is a great idea and it's very unique. I'm not sure what they use for embossing a card but you can have it printed using a glossy ink and have multi-level or raised embossed it to make it pop up even more. I think that will add more depth to the optical illusion you're going for. What do you think?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Judas2018
I guess it's possible but it would be pretty expensive. You also don't know how well that illusion effect will age as the card is kept and transported around inside someone's pocket or backpack for many months on end. When I was young, I'd receive many toys with optical tricks and effects and stuff. But over the years, they ceased to function as well as they did on day 1.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's another point to consider. Obviously, when a card is not a regular one, the price is not going to be regular either, so you have to think is the investment worth it. If that's going to represent your business in the proper way, and the quality of the card is prime, then for sure you can consider it.

There are probably a variety of photo editing programs that can help you create this unique business card. I had one program on all of my computers for decades, that did just that, and it came with a wide assemblage of different designs, fonts and colors. There could possibly be something out there that is capable of handling your optical illusion card, but it may be difficult to print as the card would likely be thicker than average to account for the extra special effects. Probably an online program exists that could be utilized to create your cards for a cost.

The feedback for this question is sending my mind in different directions. Optical Illusions? Holograms? When I made business cards for my husbands (ages ago) I only wanted a simple piece of art on the card. Nothing fancy. Just something memorable that related to his line of work. I have to say if I received a business card with an optical illusion, for sure I would remember where I got it! What a great marketing technique.

The only thing I'm wondering is: How much would it cost?
Because as I recall, making business cards for my husband was not that expensive.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Honestly, I was thinking about the price too. I guess they're not easy to make at home, but instead it requires to have a special printer or something, and you need to hire someone to do those cards, and you need to find a good one, otherwise the card is going to be a mess. So, that sounds like some money investment right?

This site offers a general idea of how much it should cost for business cards.
https://99designs.com/blog/logo-branding/business-card-cost/

When you think about the fact that the cards build your brand, circulate and familiarize people with your logo, advertise your business, and are really handy to give out ... you may decide the cost is worth it!

I like this idea! I think I will try to do this with our own business card. People would remember you better if they have a thing they are fond of that you made and if its cool enough they would show their friends thus giving you free advertisement.
