How to make money by selling logos and banners without any image design skills!
So you may know just how profitable the banner and logo design industry can be. Over the years we've seen many ways in which people can make money from selling and providing banner and logo creation. But you might be surprised to now that a large percentage of those seller and providers don't even own or lay a finger on an image creation tool/software like Photoshop. Shock horror! So how are they doing this? How can they sell and provide a banner and logo design service and not have any image design and creation skills and yet keep their buyers happy at the same time?

Logo Arbitrage Outsourcing

Okay so here's the deal, you can find many logo, banner ad creation services on micro sites like SEOClerks, and on here etc. And some other freelance marketplaces for which I wont even mention. On those sites you can find logo and banner ad creation services for as low as $5. These are often by the people that DO have the skills and abilities and talents to create nice looking logos and banners quite easily. They just fire up Photoshop or something, create a blank canvas and import some elements, add a word (brand name) etc and then just play around with some filters and stuff and voila! They can knock out a nice looking logo.

Now the trick is to finding the clients for these services. To do that you would have to advertise that service on here as a service, or SEOClerks and other freelance sites where you can get that type of thing. Then people can buy that service, give you the details of what they need, and then all you need to do is go to one of these services that sell it for around $5, buy it, give them the details, wait for them to do it, then when they deliver it, you deliver this to your client. If the client is happy with the work, you get paid.

Of course, when it comes to logo and banner design, not everyone will be happy with their logo. Fortunately, most sellers provide free unlimited revisions. So you can go back to the buyer and then ask them to change it. It could be something as small as making a small change to the font, styling, colors or other elements used in that logo. Chances are they will since they want you to be happy and want to get paid. Then when they redeliver it again, you again go back to your buyer and deliver the work to them. Then when they are happy, then you get paid. And you never even touched an image design and creation tool yourself!

The trick here though is to sell your logo design service for more than you paid for it. The only thing here is that most people only usually like to pay around $5 for a logo. A little more if they're buying a banner and something else as well. But some people are happy to pay more for it from $10 to $20+ if they think it's going to be good. Now if you sell your logo design service for $10 and only pay $5 for one, well that's $5 profit right there. (More like $4 after fees). It doesn't sound like much but if your service is popular and you get a lot of orders, the profits can really stack up!

Where to find people who want to logos designed?

There are many places you can find these people too. One of the main best places is SEOClerks WTB's. There are usually always people creating a WTB (Want To Buy) requesting a logo to be designed for them. You can bid on their WTB with a price that's a little more that you would pay for it. If you use words like "professional" and "high quality" etc, then you can put the price up a little bit more. And in fact, by pricing your service a little higher, this adds value to it as well.

One other place which is a great resource to find people who want to buy logos and other images of all kinds is Craigslist and Backpage. These are classified ad sites and you can find other sites like them like US Free Ads, Hoobly, Oodle, Adoos etc. Just search in Google for "sites like Cragslist" and you'll find them.

These sites have people posting on them all the time asking for logo and banner design all the time. What you have to do is message them with your proposal. Just tell them that you can do it for them. Show them some samples of past work if you have them. Tell them what the price will be and if they like your samples and the price is reasonable they will usually go for it.

The only thing with these sites and getting work this way is that you'll need to collect payment first. That's just the way it works. So you'll have to give them your PayPal ID or something. Another good thing to do is create a PayPal.me address. If that's available in your country then you can create one for your account like www.paypal.me/logodesign or something to make it look professional and that you do this all the time.

Then when they have paid you and you know what kind of logo or banner they want, you then have to go off and buy this from someone else. If you know someone that has worked for you before and they are a good provider then chances are they'll get it right first time and you can then just send that to the buyer on the site you contacted them on. Unless you can add them on Skype and stuff which is what I like to do as that way you can keep in contact with them because they may need more stuff made for them later on and you can just repeat the whole thing over again without even opening Photoshop yourself! How to make money by selling logos and banners without any image design skills!

Some things to bear in mind when / if doing this method.

  • Never give the impression that you're doing the work yourself.
  • But also don't give away that you're just a middleman.
  • Keep things to a need to know basis only.
  • Make sure to find a reliable logo maker that is affordable.
  • Sell high and buy low so that you will make a profit.
  • Keep past clients logos as samples to show to people.
And that is basically logo arbitrage in a nutshell! Lots of people do this all the time and the buyer is none the wiser! And for some people that get into doing this a lot, it can be quite profitable. All without even ever touching a single pixel!

Do you do anything like this and make money from this method?

What other ways of doing this are there that you know of?

What do you think about this method?

There's this free logo site called Designmantic where you can get free logos by just typing in your business name and industry type. It's fast and free.

A lot of people have been doing this thing not just in logos, but others services as well. And it really does work wonders. The only thing you have to focus on is having your secure source of those services such as banners and logos. Your outsource partner (well not technically a partner since you are his client too) must be reliable and consistent when it comes to your deal and he shouldn't know what your gig is. If ever you find a reliable and consistent one, then you should by now find your clients. But yeah of course, buy low, sell high.

You're right. I've heard a lot of people say they make a living doing this. At first, I was surprised, and admittedly my immediate reaction was even to think that it was a little unfair, but now that I have had time to think about it I realize that the middle man is also providing a service which is putting up the image and the brand, which I know a lot of artists don't really have that much interest in because it's just the business side of things. I see it more like how any other company operates, wherein there are multiple departments doing different things and in the end they all profit.

Having a middle man or someone that you could rely on for certain services will really help you out. Now there are a lot of ways to get a middle man or a partner. For instance, you have a friend or a family relative who is a fresh graduate or knows a lot of about your niche. You would take that opportunity to invite them to do something for you, and in return, you will pay them and they can have some experiences from it for their portfolios specially if they need character references and some previous client feedback in the future.

I have worked as a middleman many times. I take orders from clients, hire a freelancer and ask him to complete the job and submit the completed work to the client. When the client pays, I take my commission and deliver the payment to the freelancer. I have also taken orders from middleman.

I might suggest that anyone reading, this to go and learn Logo design and don't depend on all these, because it will come at a time in your career when the project will choke you real hard on the neck, then it will require you been able to use the basic knowledge of logo design. and they are some works that require expertise. Pay to acquire the skill and watch yourself smile to the bank. but what do i know. Nice info though

Definitely. I would try to discourage this method as much as possible and I just can't see it being a very good method in the long term. The profit can't be that good since you still have to pay the other designer to finish the logo and you are also relying on them a lot to finish it on time. If they encounter a problem then you will end up looking really bad and that may ruin your reputation. The best way is to just learn how to design graphics and logos by yourself

I agree. Well, of course, you can make money by selling graphic designs even if you do not have any skills, however, it is better to have designing skills if you want to choose this vocation. Relying on freelancer to outsource designs cannot be trusted, especially if your client begins to ask working file or revisions.

You could always look at different tutorials on the internet especially YouTube to learn how to make logos and banners. If you are not very good with image design then you can always improve that skill with tutorials or webinars. If you still can't then you could always just draw logos and banners on paper and then scan it onto your computer. You can then sell those designs to artists who can then create a digital version of that or to businesses looking for logo/banner design ideas.

I've doing this, and it has worked great for me. Every time i feel I'm lacking on designing, I just check some online tutorials and they help me a lot. The scanning/editing idea, is pretty good too. So that way, you can scan your own creations, get a good editing program, and add whatever other idea comes to your mind, or maybe ask for tips from your friends.

Instead of outsourcing graphic designs from the freelancer and selling them back to the client, one good option is to try logo designing programs. You can find numerous free logo designing services. You can even buy templates and create designs from these templates. It is not very difficult to design from templates.

I have learnt a great deal of work and acquired a good amount of knowledge by using YouTube channel to take up studies on subjects which are not really my field and I must confess that it's been very helpful and useful as well. Even though I'm not into professional designing, I have learnt enough about designing logo and banners from YouTube channels.
