What Brand of DSLR Camera do you use?

I'm an amateur nature and food photographer, a hobbyist and love taking photos with my Nikon D3400.

The Nikon D3400 is one of the cheaper models of DSLR Cameras out in the market it costs between $500 to $600 unlike other cameras which is priced at $1000 to $2500.

It is quite effective with its 24MP photos ensures that all photos taken are crisp and clear while the 1080p creates amazing videos.  It has a 3 inch display, light to carry and the size is just right for me, its not bulky.  Its simple but rugged design adds to its allure.

I'm a fan of photography, but unfortunately I'm not great at taking pictures. However, I do like to appreciate everybody's work, and one of my dearest friends really knows how to catch amazing shots. Any Cannon or Nikon will do the work, they were created to love images, so having one of them is a blessing. Cannon Eos Series are perfect, also D series, the problem usually is the price of them. A cheaper option but also good at shots is Fuji, so if someone wants to experience and learn before getting an expensive camera, that's a start point.

Me too. I'm not great with pictures. But I do aspire to look great in them. My only camera is a Samsung that was made around 2011-2012. It's relatively old in today's standards. Though, it still works great. It has 14 megapixels.

I really can't differentiate between higher pixels and the one I have. As long as the image is clear, it'll work for me.

You can buy some really good Canon DSLR's while still on a budget. Cameras like the Canon 5D are easily some of the best available on the market, but as you had mentioned they are way overpriced for the average consumer. Canon has addressed this issue by making more affordable cameras for aspiring hobbyists. I own a Canon Rebel T3i which was only $600 at the time I bought it. They've continued their Rebel series with newer models, but usually keep it around that price range. It's definitely better than any point-and-shoot camera, and comes at the cost of many higher-end mobile phones these days. For semi-professionals, it's a great start.

Well, that looks like a great camera, and honestly I hadn't check the Rebel series. The only issue I see about it, is that it looks like it was discontinued by manufacturer, so in case you have a problem or accident with it, would Canon replace it? I mean, I just want to know if it comes with some warranty, because that's important when you're doing an investment.

Canon is pretty good. In the Philippines, I think it is the most popular. I am not a professional photographer but I just notice them using it. I tried it a few times and I can tell that it is good for beginners or aspiring photographers. Features are very basic and simple. Quality of the pictures are also insane. I tried Nikon once but I like Canon much better. Fujifilm is also good by the way.

I think that the main advantage Canon has over other companies is the fact that they have great marketing and their cameras are very user friendly. As I've said before, I took a photography course in college where I got to spend time with other aspiring photographers and trade cameras. Because of this I got to use just about every popular DSLR on the market. Without a doubt, Canon cameras were the most user friendly. I personally found that the least beginner-friendly cameras were Sony cameras. Canon is just incredibly good at appealing to both beginners and professionals alike.

I agree with you, me too I am fan of photography but I don't have an eye for great photos.

I have always favored cannon camera series, I actually had one during my university days because studying as a photojournalist, you are bound by the department rules to have one camera even if it's an inferior model. I had to give my camera out to my kid brother once I completed my studies. I'm sure he still makes use of till date.

I started out as a Canon person, but as I moved into video and filmmaking, I realized there were other brands that were putting out better cameras for my purposes. I currently shoot on a Panasonic GH4 with a Metabones Speedbooster so I can attach my Canon lenses to it. It takes good photos and shoots 4K footage, which is why I purchased it. For the price, it's far more powerful than any Canon or Nikon equivalent.

However, I would have to have a Canon 5D Mkiii or iv for strictly photography someday. There's something about Canon's image color that the Panasonic just doesn't have.

I like both Nikon and Canon but I eventually settled onto Nikon because I prefer the overall design, and feel of their cameras. Both brands have terrific usability though, can't complain.

Ergonomics play a huge role in the type of camera you prefer using. This is why I've never understood the whole Canon vs. Nikon rivalry that I see online and in the my local community so much. To me, it's never been about what gear you have necessarily, but your eye for photography. A great photographer can take a great picture regardless of whether they're using a Canon or a Nikon camera.

I agree as well that both have awesome and amazing features, but sadly you must choose one, and base on my experience, I would totally prefer canon, for me. For the reason that I've been using this thing for so long and it never disappoints me, but if Nikon would be my first camera then I would say the same as well.

I am not a photographer, but I have friends that are professional photographers and I noticed that their cameras are either Nikon or Canon, so I assume that these brands are really good.

I've been using Canon DSLR cameras ever since I started my adventure into the field of photography. I've handled extremely expensive cameras such as the Canon EOS 5D while I was in college, but I found that for my own personal use that they're a tad bit overkill. My personal camera is a simple Canon Rebel T3i, which is a fairly low budget camera at around $600, but it has served me beautifully for the past 5 years. I've tried other cameras from Nikon and Sony, but I always feel at home when I'm holding a Canon.

Woah, I am missing a lot am completely ignorant about cameras, I will have to join the trend soon, I am so envious of your knowledge right now.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

DenisP
Haha, while I'm quite flattered, there is absolutely no need to be envious about my knowledge of cameras. It really isn't that hard getting to know the inner workings of a camera and which cameras are good for what. If you look up the basics of photography online, you'll come to find that learning about concepts such as aperture, focal length, shutter speed, color balance etc…is far easier than it sounds, and you can gain above average knowledge of photography literally in one afternoon.

I own a Nikon D5500 although I'm not that good at taking pictures yet. I want to try a Canon next because I hear that the user interface and controls are much easier compared to Nikon's. Now I regret buying a Nikon because I'm still a newbie and should've settled for a more beginner friendly interface. What Brand of DSLR Camera do you use?

I use my mobile camera for all my picture taking, have never had camera or bought one both I think Nikon and Canon have nice picturesque features. When I want to get a camera, I will consider them.

Just like you I also like using my mobile phone, specially on the days I don't want to bring bulky stuff. Let us admit that the dslr cameras and it accessories such as lighting and lenses can be pretty heavy. So sometimes, I use my mobile phone because it is also efficient and can offer a lot of instant effects that is a bit scarce when it comes to dslrs.

I do own a Nikon DSLR but I still prefer a smartphone. It's not every day that I have my DSLR with me and a smartphone has the portability and convenience that I need. If you need to take a quick snap of something, it's always within your reach in your pockets.

I use Canon EOS 750D. When I bought the camera, it cost me around 70 thousand rupees which is around $700. This is a moderately priced camera, but a good equipment to take pictures. The video resolution is 1080px full HD and the image resolution is 5184 x 3456.

I am currently using a Nikon DSLR. I have to say it is serving its purpose. It is very efficient and I get the quality I wanted. As someone who loves photography , I always look for high resolution and so far, my DSLR has given me exactly that and more.

When doing photography these days it's hi-res or HD or nothing. Long gone are the days of 'so-so quality photographs.'

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

kammy143
This is very true. There are lots and lots of people these days that doesn't wan't to settle with substandard images. They tend to go for high resolutions for more practical reasons. Indeed photos with high resolution can give the user more creative ways in tweaking it, or if not, the high quality just speaks for itself.

It's very important indeed because photos are supposed to tell a story, or show someone something they missed or didn't see in real time. In order to do that, you need a clear and resolute image.

I am sadly not really using any DSLR camera right now due to the smartphones. I have the dual camera on my phone and it takes some really high definition pictures. I don't really wanna invest in a new DSLR right now.

I still have my old Canon DSLR that's a bit outdated but I used it so much in the past.

The really good DSLR cameras in my country are twice the price you see in most countries. Not sure why though, perhaps due to production. So when I do decide to get a new one I am definitely ordering online.

I have always preferred Canon to Nikon when I was still using DSLR Cameras. I'm not sure (maybe I'm a bit biased since I grew up in a family that uses mostly Canon cameras) but I think that Canon photos have a specific quality that I'm looking for in my pictures to accompany certain articles that I write. Right now though, I haven't bought a new camera because of the improvements of the camera of smartphones which are enough when I'm not really in the photography business.

I have similar sentiments to yours. I grew up with a dad who was a professional photographer, and he used Canon cameras. As a result, having grown up around the Canon brand, I also gravitated toward Canon when it came time for me to purchase my own camera. I don't think there's anything wrong with Nikon cameras at all, but I love the colors that models like the Canon 5D produce compared to the Nikon equivalents.

For now I currently have a Canon EOS 600d DSLR Camera and I using it for food and nature photography due to the larger size of image sensors in DSLRs which allows for larger pixel sizes – DSLRs are generally able to be used at a faster ISO which will lead to faster shutter speeds and less grain. Some argue that a DSLR will hold i’s value longer than a point and shoot. There is presumably some truth in this. DSLR models do not get updated quite as often as point and shoot models. Most DSLRs have a large array of features that will probably overwhelm and confuse you at first as you compare them with one another. All have basic features like the ability to use aperture and shutter priority, auto or manual focus but there’s also a lot of variation in what is or isn’t offered.

I used the brand Canon EOS 600d DSLR Camera. At first I really don't have plans in buying those expensive stuffs but then when I knew we had photography subject , I was totally upset because I don't have any assurance yet if my parents will support me in buying expensive dslr camera. When our class in photography began, I used to borrow from my classmates and they usually used Nikon. It was kinda easy to use but the screen is not that large so I cannot totally guaranteed that Nikon is the best or cannot totally tell if the image is clear or not. I also heard from others that canon is the best than Nikon. I was so happy when my parents decided to buy me a Canon. I can totally say that I like Canon more than Nikon. Maybe the one that I borrowed from my classmate is a low previous version of product of Nikon so the screen is not that clear. Since im more likely familiar with the settings of Canon I prefer Canon than other brands. What I know is that canon is best for taking shots of portraits and close ups. When it comes to Nikon they more preferably on landscapes. I am not tottally sure but I heard it from someone else.

I am currently using Canon EOS 1200D. It has been my camera since 2014. After years of freelancing, I was able to develop my skills both in video and photography. I have also developed my editing skills both in photo and video. That's why even when I was still a student, I was already earning. Canon 1200D is good for amateurs as it has an 18MP and 1080 HD Video.

What Brand of DSLR Camera do you use? This has been my very first photograph. She is our dear Golden Retriever dog, Barbie.

What Brand of DSLR Camera do you use? This is a street photography. Please be noted that this is not a poverty photography. I captured this moment because he was so tired selling vegetables on his condition.

What Brand of DSLR Camera do you use? This is a landscape photography. Among the 3 photos I uploaded, this is the most interesting photo I captured. I am fond of capturing landscapes. This is low quality because I just edited this in Snapseed. I usually edit in my desktop using Adobe Lightroom.

But I guess, I'll change my camera soon to Fujifilm. Though I like DSLR, I just wanted a new taste of mirrorless camera.

I wonder why you would be looking at getting rid of this wonderful Canon camera that gives you such as exquisite digital images experience. Mine is actually acting up for a while now but I'm still making use of it, but possibly before mid year, I'm going to have it replaced with still a Canon higher version/brand.

Fantastic photos! I understand your desire to move to a mirrorless camera, though. The new lines of Sony and Fujifilm cameras offer great quality. I'd make the move to Sony myself if they weren't so expensive, and if I hadn't already invested so much money into Canon and Panasonic gear.

I also appreciate that in your top Instagram photo, you put the camera settings in the description. I appreciate it when photographers do that so I can get a idea of what settings they were using. Of course, I say I appreciate this, but I never do that with any of my photos, haha

Wow! Those photos looks great! Those photos are great as if there is a story behind those photos especially the second and third photo. Those two photos looks dramatic because of the atmosphere and color of photos. I would also like to try Nikon, the latest Nikon SLR, I just want to compare Nikon and Canon although both cameras have different functions still I want to try . For now I just use phone to take pictures because sometimes it's hassle to bring SLR cameras because it's kinda heavy compared to phone.
