What smart phone do you use?

At this time and day, the smart phone has become a necessity to a lot of individuals. We use it for leisure, for work and most importantly for communication.
It is a nice thing to emphasis that the smart phone has come a long way from being a bulky, call and text only type of gadget to a much much more advanced piece of technology. What kind of smart phone do you use? What features made you want to purchase that smartphone in the first place.

I have a Samsung Galaxy A5 2016. It's a great phone and I am very happy with it. It is a great mid-range phone and it has some great features as well. It's about the same size as the normal S8 I believe.

My phone contract actually ends in a few months so I'm looking to upgrade to the Galaxy S8 or the Google Pixel 2. I'm currently leaning more towards the Google Pixel 2 because of the camera and the fact that it just has some amazing features that come alongside the phone.

I have used this hand set and I believe this this one of the best moderately priced handset. I was using this phone until the screen broke. When I took it for repair, the man said I need to spend a lot of money and he would not guarantee that it will look like the original. Therefore, I avoided the repairing and got On 7. By the way On 7 is also a good phone from Samsung.

Glad to hear that you also had a good experience with the Galaxy A5 2016. Sorry to hear that the screen broke for your phone. Could you not have got it fixed from Samsung with your warranty? I had a problem with the battery and all I had to do was send it to Samsung to have it fixed. I have never actually heard of the Samsung On 7. Was it a sort of exclusive for a certain region? I cannot remember seeing it or even hearing of it over here in the United Kingdom.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vinaya
In my home country, the Samsung dealer does not warranty for broken devices. It only handles manufacturer's problem.
I don't know whether some Samsung devices are exclusive to a certain territory. However, On 7 is very popular here. It is moderately priced phone, costs around $150 in the local market. This handset was launched in 2015.

Oh, that is a real shame. I'm surprised that the original guy wanted to charge you a lot as well because screen repairs over here are extremely cheap. You could actually probably do it yourself, all you have to do is order some replacement parts from either Amazon or eBay. I presume it was built exclusively for that region. Where are you from exactly?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I am from Nepal, the Samsung products available here are from China. We don't get Korean made Samsung products here. Amazon does not ship electronic items or parts here, I could have purchased from ebay, however, this thought never occurred to my mind. I still have that handset, I will see if this can be done.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

DarthHazard
That's a shame. Amazon is so helpful for a lot of online shopping so it is awful that they don't bother t ship electronic items or parts over there. I'm sure you will be able to find the replacement screen from eBay. I would advise you to be careful though to ensure you buy the right product and from a trusted seller as well. I wish you the best of luck with the search and hope you can get your screen fixed soon What smart phone do you use?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I can buy from Amazon, however, I need third-party service or a help from my friend to buy the product. I need to buy the product for another person when the product reaches him I have to ask him to ship me. I have done this once or twice. It is so bothersome that I am not doing this anymore. Amazon does not ship electronic items and some other items to my country because of my home country policy. I can receive items from ebay easily. I will try to see if I can get what I want for the price cheaper than in the local market. Thanks

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

DarthHazard
That really is a shame. Hopefully, something can be done one day so that they can extend their service to allow electronic items and parts to be shipped to your country. There should be some sites out there that offer the same parts for your phone and ship to your country. Be careful though, some sites obviously may not be legitimate and you may not get the product in the end

When I buy from ebay, I can have the products delievered to my place. Since ebay sellers are individual sellers and not a company, I can get products from ebay delivered to my door. However, I need to be careful about buying from ebay because I might be scammed.

That is such a bad experience. I also experienced something like that before. I also took my broken phone to a repair shop and the repairman's price was absurd. I canvased for other repair shops and took my phone to the one that is more reputable with a lower price range.

I am using Samsung Galaxy young. Its very good. It is fast in downloading. When I use it for Facebook, I am able to access it immediately. Unlike one of my phone that was made in China, It takes a lot of time to be used.

OPPO F5 is my smartphone. I purchased it primarily because of its camera. It takes pictures very brilliantly that I am able to use it in my stores online. Mostly, I need not edit the pictures anymore because it has already been optimized. Aside from that, I also liked the fact that I can create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations using this phone. In short, it has all that I needed for my job.

Oppo smart phones are one of my favorite during these days because of its great and excellent camera for taking photos and running the application as well. It maybe new in the market but I think it is gaining now some popularity because of its great features and applications that other brands of smart phone don't have. My partner bought an Oppo smart phone last year and I was really impressed and satisfied on it in my daily use because it is really worth the price because it is very convenient and enjoyable to have compare to other smart phone in the market.

I am currently using the Samsung S7 and planning on upgrading any day now since my contract ran out. When it runs out I can easily get very affordable newer models.

But still, I absolutely love the S7. Zero issues, works perfectly and has all the features I could ever want.

When I buy a new phone I always look at things such as RAM, storage, camera, extra features, etc.

I'm a fan of Samsung too. I've had lots of cellphones, from basic to super smart ones, and Samsung are the best of Android world. They are affordable, easy to use, screen doesn't freeze, have a reasonable capacity, and they last until the end. The only thing I will improve, is the front camera, honestly that doesn't have the definition anyone would like to.

Samsung has been good to me ever since I used their phones even just the touch screen and not android samsung phone that I have is still working perfectly fine. Now I'm using of scourse a samsung phone as a daily driver and I love all the features and over all look of their devices. I thought it is really the most popular one among others. I get to use an asus zenfone 5 the old model for 2 years and I am suprised because just like samsung it still works fine but the only downside is the camera I believe the images it captures gets a little blurry over time than the first time I used it. But still takes great photos and are just fine.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ballyhara
Well that happens to me too with my Samsung phone, sometimes I get blurry images. Most of the time, the back camera works just perfect, it takes average pictures, and I feel good with the result. But sometimes, specially on night time, no matter how hard I try, checking background light, and focusing on the subject, the picture is completely blurry. I've tried to fix the settings, and doing everything I know, and still getting terrible pictures at night.

I was originally on a Samsung S7 also but here recently, I've upgraded to the Samsung s8 smartphone.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Tronia
That's exactly my plan, haha! The Samsung S8 is quite expensive on its own but if I take it as part of the new contract I get a huge percentage off the price. I have been eyeing the S8 for ages now and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

How are you liking it compared to the S7? Was it worth the upgrade?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Judas2018
The S8 imo is a bit better than the S7 mostly because of more real estate. The screen/display seems larger than the previous version. Easier on the eyes. Not that the S7 display was micro or anything, but the S8 display seems bigger. There's not a huge chasm between the two however. Both are terrific devices. I'd get an S8 eventually if I were you but a good idea would be sticking with the S7 until you can get a good price, which it seems you already have.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I also want this handset, however, I cannot afford to have S7. It is beyond my budget. I am Samsung fan and have always used Samsung hand sets, from the time when I was using a cell phone for the first time (a simple handset) until now when I am using J series.

I'm using an iPhone 8. I've loved the iPhone ever since I switched to iOS a couple years back, and I'm impressed at how much faster my 8 is than my 6s. I have had no problems with Apple, and it's really convenient that my phone can "talk" to my Macbook as well as my iMac at work, which makes file transfers very easy.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Judas2018
There's more and more dislike of the iPhone these days, due to the newer versions taking away so much of what made earlier versions great. Also this new issue now with Apple slowing down older models.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TheArticulate
While I think the whole controversy about slowing down older models is pretty low on Apple's part, it doesn't affect me since I keep my model up to date. Not to mention I had problem after problem when I was an Android user. I had touch screens go out, keyboards stop working, charging ports go out on me. I haven't had a single one of those issues since I made the switch to Apple.

You won't see me going back to Android anytime soon!

Yeah, some droid phones can be complicated. It also depends on where you get them and how rough you are with them. They're quite sensitive devices, a few friends of mine found this out the hard way.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I can't really relate when it comes to iphones. It is way too expensive for my taste and my pocket isn't that deep to begin with. Though I hear good reviews when it comes to their security measures, I really just cant afford it to try it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

SiamSEO
Going for second hand phones and maybe a generation or two backwards you can get very, very nice phones though. Generally you do need to get the battery replaced, but otherwise you can expect a great and long-lasting phone from Apple. Obviously if you need to run all sorts of apps and stuff to distract you from work older phones might not be the best idea, but you can't have everything in one package for cheap.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

kammy143
One of my friends kept on complaining that her iphone is slowing down as time passes. I have told her that there are some controversial theories about it regarding battery life and upgrades spreading around. I don't know, but it seems like a strategy that makes the consumer want to find a new better performing model.... in comes the new model of the ios.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

EfficientNinja
Turns out the issue is real and they really are making efforts to slow down the device. They're saying that older batteries won't be able to handle the operations of the latest operating system updates and it will lead to crashes. It's a good thing that they added the feature to disable it for those who want a different setting.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

SiamSEO
But it's still true that with an older battery you'll have even worse user experience with a newer, more feature rich OS, and given how iPhone batteries are not that easy to replace (luckily they're pretty cheap to replace at a repair shop) this is not the worst possible option they could take. Imagine if they'd drop the support completely merely after couple years of releasing the device...

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

EfficientNinja
Agreed. I'd rather change my battery if it wears to an unusable state than to not receive OS updates.

How much does it cost you to replace iPhone batteries in your country's repair shops? I haven't replaced mine yet and I might change it when its battery wears a lot.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

As much as I'd like to have an iphone, I just can afford it. I have heard of good reviews about the units and I was quite envious of people who can afford and experience them. Another thing is the apps. As I have learned, most of the desired apps should be bought and I'm sure if I had one, it would be off my budget.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

TheArticulate
That's one of my main issues with any of Apple's products, I think they're overpriced. I weighed my options pretty heavily when I made the switch from Android. Everyone I talked to said their phones worked just a fast and reliably as the day they purchased them and they had never had any major issues with them. I decided the tradeoff for the higher price tag was the longevity of the phone, and I think I made the right decision.

My phone plan is through Verizon, so I don't pay for the entire phone up front. I make monthly installments toward paying it off instead, which makes the price much more manageable for me.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Judas2018
@TheArticulate You can normally find Apple iphones on Ebay or Amazon a little cheaper than you would if store bought. The discount may not be as much as you'd like but it'll save you $20 to $50 bucks at least.

Ordering online is a bit risky. That point of view comes from experience. I once bought a phone using an online site I ended up having an imitation. So, if one isn't ordering it straight from the manufacturer, I think it's better for someone to buy it from a legit brand's store.

True! feeling you here. I had a bad experience once, by shopping a cell phone through Amazon. I bought a phone for my dad, got it and send it to him, apparently it was fine, and the next day the microphone was mute. Had to call, write, and complain to Amazon, their customer service was super good with me, they completely solved the issue, apparently they've had problems with that seller before, and I got another phone for my dad. There are a lot of cheating sellers that are using those platforms to get advantage on us.

@kammy143 Iphones are expensive because such care and detail is put into the exterior. I'm sure you've seen iphones that look gold, platinum and silver plated. Apples iphone devices are just as good looking as they are technologically elite.

I know that the material used and the security measures of the IOS is a tough thing to beat. I can't argue with that. Who wouldn't want an iphone, right? It' just that it is too pricey. A lot pricier than I can afford. As I see it buying the phone is one thing and availing the apps is another. All in all, I would like to have an iphone, but, I am too stingy to have one. hahahaha

I'm currently using Samsung J7, like it's the phone that perfectly fits for me right now, I would say. Like it's perfect for watching videos on YouTube with it's wide screen and it's probably perfect for browsing social medias as well. And also, the convenience it gives me whenever I used it for calling someone, like for emergency or for business as well. It perfectly fits for me. What smart phone do you use?

I'm currently trying to choose which phone I should buy. So far my choices have been Oppo, Samsung, or Vivo. I do not really care at all about the camera and just want something that will not lag at all. I have been getting recommended to get Samsung a lot more but the problem is that I hate the design of Samsung phones and would feel awful having to look at that everyday. I don't really like the look of Oppo and Vivo all that much either but it's a little more tolerable to me.

I own more than one actually and Samsung is one of them. I like much the quality of it in all aspects. I just don't like their Customer Service Center in one of the malls here. you would really waste half-day there just for your phone to get fixed.

I never had an iPhone in my life, and I wish I could have one soon. I feel like I'm not complete in this world if I won't experience having one.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Getting your phone fixed is really troublesome. I also hate going to service centers to get my phone fixed sometimes it takes too long and in some cases you really don't get the results that you want. I took my old phone to the brand's customer service center and I told them my problem with the phone. I said that I have noticed that the phone is heating up and it causes damage to the battery. So they fixed it. Long behold after a few use, I noticed the same problem. I changed my phone because it isn't practical to buy new batteries every time it gets broken.

Before now, I've been using a normal Nokia phone that has got thick keypads that make life hard for anyone using it as a result of the fact that my previous device which was itel 1501 had some booting issues and couldn't boot anymore. I felt hurt losing that device and it wasn't easy for me at that time.

Late last year, I saved up some funds and got the Tecno k7 that came with a whooping 13 mega pixel back camera that makes snapping a good experience for me. Now, I can enjoy the world of taking pictures as I like anywhere that I go around the neighborhood. It has been a gold experience for me.

I have the Google Pixel phone. I bought it mainly for the camera. It has a back camera of 12.3 megapixels and front camera of 8.0 megapixels. I really like it. I had the Samsung Note 3 before this and liked it but it started doing weird things so I bought this one. The only thing I don't like is because I have the Gear Watch I can not answer my phone calls on the watch anymore. It tells me someone is calling but I have to answer on my phone. Otherwise, as long as the Pixel keeps working I will keep it. I have never owned an IPhone, always Android. My kids all have the IPhone but it is not for me.

Currently I'm making use of the Tecno android smartphone called Camon 8. It's the first C series of all Tecno android phones that were produced and I happened to purchase it in just 2 weeks of its entering the market.

The first thing that I loved so much about the phone was its camera quality in picture taking. It's back camera was 13.0 mega pixels and the rear camera was I think 12.0 mega pixels with front camera flash. In fact, it was the first phone that I witnessed with a front camera flash light.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Wow. The specs of the phones camera is pretty high. Is it pricey? Also, I think that the designer of the android phone you have has a good intuition when it comes to their customers needs. Well am so shy now about saying mine, since everyone have a good phone compared to mine, let me raise my shoulders too and declare that I have an Itel 1513. Its android version is the latest, maybe that's why am still cool with it, have had a broken screen before and I fixed it with about 7$ there about. My phone isn't up to a year and it gives me hard time due to overloading lol.

In my opinion, there is nothing to be shy about. People tend to have sentimental value on things that are dear to them. I for instance, still keep my nokia 3210... lol... It is still in good condition and I use it from time to time. If something serves it's purpose why not use it, right? It's really hard to let go because of the sentimental value.

It's not just sentimental value. I find some of my older phones are still reliable that's why I still use them.

In my country, I think having an older phone is a requirement. It keeps you away from bad guys roaming the streets looking to snatch phones. Using a low spec phone in public keeps the bad guys away. What smart phone do you use?

Actually, believe it or not but I don't use a smart phone. Hard to comprehend in this day and age, I know. The thing is that I was never much of a smart phone kind of guy. I had gone through a couple of models, but I began to notice that I almost never used any of the hundreds of applications available to me. I used calling, texting, as well as the music and calculator features sometimes, but that was about it. Upon realizing this, after my old smart phone broke I bought a "standard" Nokia phone for super cheap and haven't looked back since.

In terms of photography, Sony Xperia XZ premium is one of my respected mobile phone. with a front camera of 13MP and a back camera of 19MP. One of the best things about its camera is that it is one of the very few that allows you to take a photo like if you were using a real camera and it has an amazing feature that i loved, it able to record a slow-mo video at only 980 frames per second that's cool is'nt it...

"One of the best things about its camera is that it is one of the very few that allows you to take a photo like if you were using a real camera…"

In what regard? A real camera as in a point-and-shoot camera or a real camera like a DSLR? Because I find it hard for smart phones to actually replicate the DSLR experience.

13MP for a front facing camera is pretty impressive, and 19MP for the back camera is even more so. I shoot with a Canon T3i DSLR and it is at 18MP, so technically the phone is even better in terms of quality. However, I find the greatest hindrance for smart phone photography is that you absolutely cannot replace the ability and versatility of a good DSLR lens.

I'm currently using a Samsung S7 and it has not let me down yet. It is very durable and has not yet slowed down and can still process the usual amount of apps that I run compared to when it was still brand new. I didn't like the Apple ones because they are more expensive and there is an issue of slowing down older versions of the device when updating to a more recent iOS update, even if the phone itself is still in good condition.

For me I use samsung galaxy j1 because it is convenient to use because it has a great camera and expandable storage. I also like the screen brightness because it is made of vibrant OLED screen. It has also had a camera and a flash to help capture those really difficult, dark shots. By using the flash built into my device, I actually have a flashlight with me at all times. Instead of relying on Internet searches and price-shopping at retailers, use an app that will scan product barcodes and seek the best prices for me. Some apps give immediate lists of product pricing, while others like Barcode Scanner will just ensure you search for the correct product online. This particular app is available for free in Samsung Apps.

I'm using Iphone 5 for simple call and text and camera. But in photo editing and installing different apps and games, I'm use Samsung. I rooted my Samsung also to install some apps that not applicable to normal non rooted phone. Android I think is better than to IOS.

And a bit more cost effective too. The price range of an IOS and Androids do differ. But to tell you the truth, I am a bit tempted to save for the IOS just for the sole reason that the IOS has a better security system compared to the Android, but then again, everything must be bought with the IOS and androids are way more flexible when it comes to apps.

Yeah, I also like the security system of the IOs, specially the find my Iphone feature that you can easily locate or find your phone by using your computer or other device and can easily destroy your phone if there's no chance to get it back. And this android phone, I just don't like how the applications keep running and drain my battery, even I already turn it off them to the settings.

I really don't have an iPhone 5 because it is very expensive for me and I cannot afford to buy for it for now because I still have some other priorities but surely it is really worth the price. I am just currently using an ordinary smart phone since I mainly focus on using it for my online sites and just to be updated on the latest trends in the web especially for my current work wherein we have a group chat and we keep on chatting everyday for work purposes. I think it is not a problem if we just use an ordinary smart phone as long as it is working well and gives you the convenience that you need.

I know a lot of people who are still on the iPhone 5. Apple is still selling newer models of their iPhone devices but I also notice more and more iPhone owners are choosing to stick to the 5 and 6 versions despite newer versions being available for purchase.

I am currently using my iPhone 6. This has been my phone since 2014. I use this for connecting and reaching people. It has great features and what I love the most is the photo quality. I have watched a review 2 years ago (when the iPhone 6 was just newly-released) that they were comparing iPhone 6 from all other branded DSLRs. I was amazed on the quality of photos in iPhone 6 because in its level, it can actually match up to other high-end DSLRs like Canon, Nikon, and Fujifilm. Currently, I am maximizing my photography skills using my iPhone and I am still saving for iPhone 8+. It is costly, I know, but I prefer IOS because of its amazing quality pictures and videos.

iPhone 5 user here. I got the battery replaced few months back so that it would last more than an hour or two, and now I'm perfectly good to go for few more years before I need to look into getting a new phone for myself.

I use Macbooks so the iOS/MacOS connectivity is a big plus in my books, and I also do like the simplicity of the iPhone, and thus I don't see myself switching out of this ecosystem anytime soon.

I use a Nokia Windows Lumnia. It's my preferred choice to use basically because of my online work. Sometimes I find myself away from a computer, that's when the my smartphone kicks in.

Nokia windows lumnia is like a mini version of a computer or mini top rather. It does all the basic functions a computer has and even a few complex operations.

Honestly I am just using now an ordinary android phone which is the Starmobile because it is cheap compare to other android phone in the market with a good quality as well. It is mainly because I cannot afford to buy the latest brand of android phones due of its very high price compare to what I am using now. At an affordable price of 5,500 pesos, I bought this item and find it very user friendly and convenient to use for online gaming and browsing as well. I just see to it to use it properly with care so that it can be used for a longer period of time.

Vivo Y53. A cheap smartphone that gives you a lot of things to do like having a costly phone. It has a good RAM inside it and a good camera front and back. Best buy for you if you had a little budget.

Yes that is great, thanks for giving me some insights regarding on that type of smart phone. I just saw some of it in a particular mall in our place and even my friends they are using that new mobile phone. I am curious about it maybe if I have some extra money I would give it a try to really experience how good it is and on how it exactly works compare to other mobile phones out there.

In my office we have a similar smartphone which is also a Samsung Galaxy S7 which our company uses for text messaging and phone calls for some important updates in office related works. I sometimes used it for gaming purposes or for social media surfing since it has a built in application for web browsing. The camera is also great and we used it to take photos of some important documents in our company.
