My smartphone camera flash not working, any idea on what to do?

Taking pictures with our smartphone is something that most of us always enjoy doing especially when we are in that position where we won't be able to make use of the normal camera. I noticed that the flash on my phone camera ain't working for days now and I would like to know if there is something that I can do about it.

Where did you get it? I'd take it to a specialist or whoever your cell phone provider is to have them look at it. Their diagnosis would probably be best, and if you have a warranty on your phone, then hopefully any repairs you'll need to have done will be covered.

It has been more than a year that I bought the device and the warranty given was just for a month. So, I don't really if it is going to work that way where they will want to check it out just for free.

If your warranty has run out they'll probably just try to sell you a new phone. That has happened to me before...they often just want to make money! Try troubleshooting it in other ways if you can. I do wonder if it's just software related though.

Yes, this also happens. It's terrible. It's just better to go to a repair shop. Thankfully, here in our country, we have a lot of repair shops for phones and other gadgets.

The warranty of the phone should atleast 3 months to six months. Maybe their reason to sell a phone is just to make money out of it. What I know is that most sales agent will give you six to 1 year warranty and they will give you free for repair there are glitches on your phone.

Just go to the nearest cellphone technician and let them fix it. It's better to let them fix it and pay for a few bucks than you fixing it and adding more damages to it.

That is true as that was how I damaged the last mobile phone that I used. It is always kinda of difficult when you realize that you are part of the reasons that your mobile phone got spoiled.

It's almost Christmas. Treat yourself this holiday season and buy a new one. Make sure that its flash works, okay?

I also did the same thing. I thought I could just find a solution about it but it seems that it just got worst. After then, I promised to never feel like a techinician again to avoid any further mistakes.

Exactly. Sometimes, attempting to fix it yourself will just cause more problems. That happened to me, but the problem was different.

I think there's something wrong with your internal phone or a glitch. You may want to go to repair shop for them to check it up and fix it. If it's new, you can go to the shop where you bought it as I know there always a warranty given to you but you have to show them your receipt as a proof that you bought it from your shop.

The mobile phone is not new anymore. I will have to pay for their repairs to be done. However, I don't have enough money on hand now to carry out the repairs, but it is something I will do when other solutions fails.

Did you try clearing data on your phone app and flashlight? Some people claimed it works. You should give it a try, it's not going to hurt your phone don't worry.

I suggest don't fix it by yourself especially if you don't have experience in repairing phones. Before, I experience it as I am so excited to use my phone that I intentionally opened and tried to look its internal. Eventually after that my phone can't be open.

Does it not work on certain apps or just your default camera? Does your flashlight app work? Well here are a few tips you can try...
  • Restart the phone. If it still doesn't work then try the other tips.
  • Go to Settings > Apps > Camera > then hit clear data on it.
ONLY if it doesn't work on your default camera, but if it's on another app then you can try that tip on that app as well. Good luck!

I have not checked it on some other apps. At the moment, it is for my default camera, but I will take a look at it and see what I will do with the tips that you provided.

The way I see it you could have two possible solutions in this situation. First, is try to reset your phone, but make sure to save and backup all the necessary data to PC/SD card. The other one, is less pleasant, but it's guaranteed to fix it. You gotta bring your cellphone to the company which sold you it, so they will be able to fix it.

I am not always cool with resetting my devices as it comes with a whole lot of challenges. I will have to take the second option when other things fails.

Oh, that's terrible. I actually am not an expert. So, if it were me, I would choose to go to a repair shop and have it fixed.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Barida
Taking it to the expert shop is one of the plans that I have. I wouldn't want to keep pushing this till I make some mistakes that I would not like. So, I am looking at the way that I do DIY first.

Hi. What brand and Model is it? If it is still under warranty or if it is insured then the best thin to do is to have the brand customer service take a look at it and see what is the problem. Since it is their product, they will know what to do with and how to fix it. But if you are more of a DIY person, go check on Youtube for simple tricks and tips that you could do to make it working again. Somebody had probably had the same issue with the same model, and have probably made a tutorial out of it.

I almost forgot. Yes, they should check the warranty of the product. It's actually easier if the product still falls on the warranty period because you'll have the chance to get it repaired or otherwise replaced without problems.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Barida
It has passed the warranty as the period is just for a year and it has been more than a year that I began making use of the phone. I will see how the tips that I have received will work on it as well.

I would go back to where I bought the smartphone If I were you. The ones who sold to you the smartphone knows it better.

The thing is that they may end up charging me higher to repair the device. I would have gladly gone to the place, if the phone is still under some form of warranty.

Though there are instances where a software issue causes this kind of problem, most often than not it is on the physical/mechanical side that could be the problem. Try looking for forums or groups for the brand of phone you have and if there is also a specific forum or group for the model that you have. Ask them if they had experienced something similar and what they have done to fix the issue.

Yeah, sometimes it is the fault of the hardware as well. This is one reason we should always look at how we are able to work out ways that we can handle some kind of situations as well on it.

We are blessed to have Google and YouTube videos that can help us in giving first aid to our phone when something wrong happens. It is not practical to always see a technician if there was a problem in your phone. However, after checking the Google or YouTube for any possible solutions and the problem was still there, you only have two options left. First, to see a technician for a repair or second, buy a new phone.

I will definitely check out the YouTube videos. Those videos have been helpful to me in the past when I was doing some things and I believe that it will help at this moment as well. I was having data issues to do that as well.

Check first on YouTube if someone has uploaded a repair video. Phones that have open backs are most likely the one to be DIY friendly. I once repaired my phone's usb port just from watching iFixit on youtube. It has gotten loose due to wear and I reseated it and all worked fine.

If the flash of your smartphone isn't working properly you should probably take it to your nearest repair shop and see if can still be fixed. I am sure your phone would be easily fixed because it is not a big issue and the technician would easily solve it.

It could just be the settings, in which case you should be able to adjust it quite easily. You could also refer to its manual or show it to the store from which you bought it just to hear what they have to say. If it still doesn't work then the flash's lights could be busted or its connection was severed due to a fall or something. Best to take it to a qualified technician to find out what's really wrong with it.

I would prefer that you would bring it to a specialist, they will know what to do. There are some repair shops that offers free checkup on mobile phones, you can bring your phone there. Since its a hardware failure, it might be hard to find a solution about that. There might be some parts that needs to be replaced.

Try visiting the customer service online of the smart phone brand you have. Maybe they have the answer. Most smart phone brand maintains a website for their customer support and inquiries.

If possible, I wouldn't shoot with the flash. It just over exposes everything with a harsh light. Google's latest campaign for their Pixel 3 is to not use the flash. Though I do understand that sometimes we use our smartphoens as flashlights sometimes, losing it is not really a big deal.

There are two practical solutions. If it's a software problem, then a simple factory reset should fix your phone. If it is a hardware problem, then you might want to take it for repairs. Other than that, I think you could visit google and see if you can find a solution to your problem. There are more people facing this sort of problem out there than you might think. Goodluck.
