What do you love about memes?

What I love about memes is that it's just short funny videos or just images with a few funny phrases or sentences on it. It doesn't take a lot of time to finish and/or watch those kind of stuffs and it's so funny.

What I like about memes is that they make politicians very angry. These "ordinary people" who happen to have a high position in a government think that makes them so high that nobody can point at them and show them what they really look like to the public. They get so crazy angry, They even ban memes. You must wonder why. Are they banning the memes because the picture is true or because it's not true? I would think if the meme is not true, they could easily prove it by their actions and decisions "for the good of all the people".

Wow I never heard about memes being banned but obviously some of them hit a nerve with people! I think freedom of speech is important though, especially when it comes to the political realm, and if politicians are offended by memes they should probably take a good hard look at their behavior!

Well, my country is known for getting everything banned, so if there's a certain meme that hurts our President's feelings, for sure they will take care of it and disappear it. That also happens with the rest of his political assets. But let's face it, politician memes are the best, and I enjoy and laugh so much, when people makes fun of the stupid and lame things that man does.

I have always enjoyed political cartoons. Political memes are just as funny as the cartoons. But they also shed light on a lot of truth. It's like: "Yeah. It's funny but you know it's true!" (Wink wink.)

Thank goodness our country hasn't banned memes. I hope that the politicians will not think of banning them as they will face the wrath of the people here.

Yes, even our President has not take any action to banned memes even if some of the memes were actually about him and government. Philippines is a free country so I think even the government don't even have any rights to banned memes since its for entertainment. If it's too much people just report those admins who created those memes.

It's really strange how can one ban memes, that's absurd. You gotta understand, that many of those EU parlament members don't have kids themselves, how can such people take decisions about a well being of a country (or region), if they cant undestand the population of that territory.

I think its unfair to ban memes just because politicians are getting hurt. If memes are not whg d their bother. Its still part of freedom of speech. It only portrait their behavior tho.

I like them because they’re a funny and easy way to communicate with friends! Sometimes instead of writing a long message to someone explaining a feeling or emotion I’m experiencing, it’s easier (and funnier!) to send a meme!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

theresajane
I agree with you. Just sending or posting a single meme will even create a topic and longer discussion with friends. I just love how people could be so creative.

That is right. I think the developer made that for that reason and purpose of memes. I like memes because they are funny and very helpful in some ways.

Sometimes me and my group of friends just pass memes around, most of the times they're memes that we relate to personally. I think that memes aren't that bad, I guess it depends on the person and how they view memes. But I think it was created to find the humor in a serious thing so that it wouldn't seem so bad anymore.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

davedaot04
Yep, this is really true, I can very much relate to what you've said, I send my friends a meme to of a certain feeling or emotion that I can relate too.

This is so me, I don't passed by memes whether pictures or videos I must see them to have a good laugh. Laughter is medicinal I always try my best to laugh and one way to let it out,is through seeing a memes.

I like their humor. Some of them, the funny ones. A good meme is created when someone nails the perfect picture with the perfect quote. Very rarely happens but when it does, it's internet gold.

I’ve had memes where I’ve non stop laughed for about 10 minutes because they’ve been so funny! Maybe I’m just easily amused but there are some really hilarious ones out there. Like you said, sometimes there’s just the perfect caption that makes a picture exceptionally funny.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ballyhara
Me too. I like them because usually they make me laugh. Some people try so hard to create a meme, and is not quite good, because as you say, they don't have a perfect picture with a perfect quote/phrase. But we have to admit, that they make us forget about issues we have day by day, and smile for a while.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
Agreed, I think the best memes are the ones that come naturally rather than the ones where people are trying too hard to be funny. I think you can definitely feel the difference between the two!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

davedaot04
Yep, I couldn't agree more on this one, when the quote and the picture and/or the video is matched then it's super hilarious and I watch it over and over again and share it to my friends.

What do you lolve about memes: I love it in all way. I can't ignore any kind of memes that I have and recieved it was a simple way of expressing what do you want to share, it is more funny and inspirational as well. If times bring me down the one that can cure it is the memes even in a shortest time, I still manage how to smile or laugh.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Well, I simply love memes because of their wittiness. I also love them because they make me laugh, especially the memes that we're produced in our country.

Filipino memes are the best I wish a lot more people could understand how witty and creative our themes are! It's just hard to translate when foreign friends ask about our local themes because sometimes the whole plot gets lost in the translation.

Yep I love Filipino memes too, I'm also a Filipino and watching our own memes is so funny, it's a form of stress reliever to me. I enjoy watching memes a lot.

People are really creative that memes are invented. I love memes because they make me laugh and I can express myself more because of memes. It is really a trend, with both the old and the young. My mother likes it too.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
I also feel like memes help me express myself better, or summarize a situation much more effectively than just words can. I guess there’s that saying “a picture tells a thousand words” and maybe a meme even does more than that!

It is exciting, sometimes witty, most of the time funny. Memes are mostly used to depict the political, social and moral status of the society with a sarcastic or somewhat funny theme. It is like a social media version of caricatures mostly done in tabloid or broadsheet newspapers. Some people say that watching memes are just a waste of time and there are many other productive activities that we can do other than waster our time watching memes.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

knnon
You have a point there and now I'm thinking that maybe themes have been around for far longer than we thought. I don't think it's a waste of time, memes are sometimes amusing to look at.

Laughter is really an important part of our lives. People should take the time to laugh and look/watch something humorous. Memes for me are really funny especially when it is about politicians and the state of my country. I don't mean that I am happy that someone is making fun of my country but it's just that what you can't express are easily expressed by the memes without directly mentioning those people.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

theresajane
Yes, you are right. Laughing or even smiling is a good therapy for ourselves. Don't let stress eat up your totality. Smile and laugh, and memes can help you at least a little.

I like memes with short videos. It make me laugh whenever I remeber the video. Also sharing that with my siblings is one of the best.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ballyhara
Oh yes! memes that are short videos are hilarious. Most of the time, the meme is about something we do all the time, like how we react to some day by day situations, and then you think, well... that's the way I look when someone say that to me, hahaha.

What I love about memes is they show how witty people are. They can create funny things out of something. They can make other people laugh because of their memes. However, some memes who hurts other people are not funny for me. You must be responsible in making memes. You can make other people laugh without hurting other people.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

knnon
This is true as well, it's really cool how witty and creative people get with memes. And you're also right, some memes can hurt instead of make people laugh, I think this is something you can call as a double edged sword.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
I think you hit the nail on the head - it's a way that people can create humor from a random picture that often isn't humorous at all without the words! Also I think it's important that you also mentioned that hurting others shouldn't be something that's condoned when it comes to meme-creation.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

davedaot04
Yep you should be aware that no one is hurt by your memes, you're responsible for what someone may feel, and it could go viral and with that it's a lot embarrassing to someone who is being pointed at in the meme, because there's a lot of people who watched the meme, and that can make someone depressed.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
Indeed. Where I live there’s been quite a big focus on the impacts of online bullying and the far reaching effects it can have. Putting someone down in a meme really is online bullying and shouldn’t be accepted as being okay or funny.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

knnon
I'm not that fond of memes but the ones that have caught my attention are were funny ones. The whole concept is pretty amazing if you think about it, just a random pic and a few words but already you get what the message is. I think it's because the fact that people can relate to memes that's why a lot like them.

The funny memes are always there to make us laugh and this is one good thing that I like about memes. I mean when you are able to have a good laugh just by taking a look at those memes.

There are memes that are really funny even with just one look. And I guess I like cat memes those are always cute and funny.

You should know that EU has banned memes. What an immature and strange decision that was. I simply cannot understand what has been going on through their minds to make such a silly decision. Memes make the internet a funnier place to be, considering the not so good sides of the cyberbullying internet communities.

Memes for me is one of the ways millennials communicate. We use the word "mellenial" to pertain a person or youth who is born or used to the current trends and lifestyle of those born in 20's. I am not sure if the term is also used in other countries. Most of the memes I see here is like a code where you have to figure it out first before it becomes funny for you so not everyone gets the meaning of it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
We also use the word millennial - I’m from the US and it’s commonly used here to describe people in that age bracket.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

gutzman
I'm glad to know that. Do you also have coded memes which only the millennial understands and not the elderly or older ones?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ballyhara
Well, usually coded memes are the ones with phrases or expressions millennials tend to use. Like JK for just kidding, being a bae, be on fleek, stop phubbing, or JOMO. Also, when they use videos or images from TV shows or characters, we really have no idea who those people are. Don't worry, I've been there too, but usually Internet helps me out to uncode the meme.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

gutzman
We're on the same page. We also use "jk" and "bae" but not the latte. I'll check that out. It's fun to learn new things from other people. I also search first most of the time just to understand them. I'm glad though that I'm not the only one.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

@gutzman I’m in my early 30s and still I sometimes have to look up the meaning of memes that are more geared to people in their teens and twenties! Sometimes memes sure do make me feel old!!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That made me smile. I know the feeling so as much as possible I am trying to be updated of the whereabouts in social media, new shows and news just to be able to relate with today's memes.

Memes have become an art form that connects people across distances, language barriers, and age. If you understand the context of a photo you can easily understand what type of point the original creator is trying to make. It can be used for simply comedic purposes or as a form of satire. Now, memes are even being used at political protests which I really enjoy because it brings a little humor to an otherwise humorless situation.

What I love about memes is the comic relief I get whenever I see one. I like memes of popular TV programs like Game Of Thrones memes the most.

What I like about memes its very entertaining. When I'm depress, I just scroll down my newsfeed to see different memes posted and shared by my friends. I just love how I see things funny or make fun of people, artists and politician. Its a relieve from stress and can overcome my sadness so memes helps me to smile and laugh at the same time.

It is wonderful that memes have the ability to make you feel happy and get you away from any depressed or negative feelings you may be having. Humor is a wonderful tool to help with that!

Checking out for memes is one of my favorite thing to do when I have some freetime. It was like a stress reliever after a very tiring job. It gives me the good vibes and I am being positive inside. I also share it with my friends and it was like sharing some happiness.

Yeah. Memes are the new form of stress relief. Particularly, in the modern era. I can't remember how long it's been since it began. I just know that people have been using it for more than few years now.

I often use memes for stress relief too. If I’ve had a particularly crazy day I often just scroll Instagram and see if there are any funny memes to make me feel better! The great thing about memes is that there are always new ones popping up so there’s always fresh content.

Honestly, my day isn't compleye without memes. Whenever I am bored or feeling down, I will just open my social media and browse for a while. Then memes will be popping out that sometimes, I tend to laugh out loud even though I am in a public place. I just find them so entertaining and relatable. It makes me happy and brings color to my gray day.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ballyhara
Exactly. You don't have to look for memes, they are everywhere in social media. Also, nowadays people tend to express themselves with a meme, so you ask them a question, or tell them a story, and they will answer you back by using a proper meme for that situation. Besides getting an answer, they're making you laugh, and that's so nice.

I love memes and sometimes I like creating funny memes of my fave animes, movies and TV shows and sharing them in Facebook. I got hooked on memes when I first saw a lot of Minion Memes years ago then there's the GOT Memes which I really enjoyed.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That’s fun that you create your own memes too! I’ve seen meme generators online which make it easy to pair a picture and some text together to make a meme. I’ve never made them myself though!

Memes are really funny sometimes that if I'm sad or down, I would just look at some funny memes and I would feel better. But there's also bad memes which are ill conceived ones which I hate the most seeing. I only like memes which makes me smile more so the ones that can make me laugh.

Memes carry the best kind of comedy you'd ever read. They are not only short and funny, but clever as well. It also helps that often, the person on a picture whose words the words on the meme are meant to represent, is some times the last person you would expect to say such things. I love the minion memes though. They say exactly the sort of thing you'd expect from there, just in a more comprehensible language. What do you love about memes?
