Fun Arts and Crafts : Making Angels

Do You Like to Make Angels?

As a child, it was fun to learn arts and crafts. My school teachers had many different art projects we had to do. One Christmas we made a Christmas tree out of macaroni, fake snow and glitter!

Also, my mom had lots of fun arts and crafts projects at home we could do “quietly” and stay out of her hair. LOL.  My sister liked making snowflakes. I enjoyed making angels.

Do you enjoy an arts and crafts project where you make angels?

On Pinterest, I found an Angel Crafts board that has over 2500 different ways to make angels. You could probably pick a project that's easy to do, sell the angels, and make some extra money or give as gifts.

Isn't this angel adorable?

I honestly haven't tried making angels, even at school, we didn't do it. But, I am a fan of snowflakes. I have made a lot of snowflakes of different designs. Since it's Christmas I guess, I should be trying this for our Christmas tree. This sure is very adorable angel.

That's great. You can try to make it for your Christmas tree. I also have not experienced making angels.

Yes, a Christmas tree using a real tree would be the best for Christmas.

The Angel is awesome! I have never given a thought to making any Angel's but, I might have to check that out. Depending on how easy that they are to make would be important as well, with the Holiday season fastly approaching. But a person could make crafts all year for the Holidays and be stocked up to sell when the festivities start for the year.

I have not done so as well. The picture look quite attractive and unique. I believe that it takes a lot of skills for one to get this kind of picture done as well. I will definitely look at ways to make it happen as well.

Me neither. I don't remember doing an Angel at school. The closest thing to it, was to paint/draw an Angel. Honestly, I'm not very talented for crafting, so all I could do at school were simple small details. I remember helping my mother doing some craft stuff when I was a kid, but that was really long ago.

It is really cute, I have tried making snowflakes, bells and other Christmas-y type of project when I was young, but I never tried making angels. I wish I did tho.

Lucky you, I was very poor in arts and crafts while I was young. I only used to wait for other pupils especially my friends to make and sell to me or give me for free.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jayjaydimson
Yes, same here I am poor in arts, but I can do everything to make it perfect.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I have never tried perfecting my art. In fact, I abandoned the art and craft study while I was still young because I was poor in modeling and drawing.

OMG, I used to make extra projects to sell to my classmates whom I know that won't make one hahahah.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Hahaha. Believe me, I could have been one of those kids who needed your help. I always put my best effort whenever some crafting was involved, but I was never satisfied with the result, so using your help would have been amazing hahaha.

I have not tried making an angel decoration but what I have tried was the Star or what we called parol in tagalog. I don't know if other countries also decorate it. I remember before in our subject, Design, my professor told us to make a parol design out of recycled materials. My partner used newspapers, straws and small stones and eggshells.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
That kind of handcraft is very famous here in our country. Making parols could bring out our hidden creative minds. It is really fun making one especially when you are group with someone. What we used are plastic bottles, straws and bottle caps. I can say that we did a great job as we got a chance for our parol to be displayed in front of our room.

This looks perfect for Christmas! I love hands on crafts, especially ones that are seasonally inspired! I also think people in my life really appreciate handmade gifts - there’s something more special about it than just purchasing something generic at a store!

I have never tried making some angels since mostly when Christmas is coming we are required to make in our school some Christmas cards and I feel that it was very easy because it was very simple to make. But I am also interested to make some angels if I will be guided on how to make it since honestly I really don't know how to make one of it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Same with me. In our schools we are always required to make Christmas cards. It would be more fun if they also taught us how to make angels and other decorations for Christmas aside from lanterns

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
Yes that is true it would really nice if we had been taught in schools to make some angels because I have never tried it before and I am curious about it. It would be an exciting activity in my own point of view if I would have an experienced with it.

Christmas cards were required? We never made Xmas cards for a school project. But I do remember a time when giving out Christmas greeting cards was very common practice. I remember giving my friends cards because I didn't have money to buy them gifts. But they were happy receiving cards. I loved the cards that had pictures of angels. I especially like what they now "vintage angels". Although they weren't called vintage when I was a little girl. (Image credit: kisspng.com)

Giving a Christmas card was very common before. I remember that I had a lot of Christmas cards before and gave it to my friends. I can make my own cards but I really like the cards that can be bought at the stores. They have great designs!

You can also watch video tutorial of making Christmas cards in Youtube. There has many designs there that you will surely love.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is true. I watched some videos already and they were great! However, I don't have time for now to do this. If I will be giving Christmas cards, I will buy these from the bookstore. They have lots of options that you will really like.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Agree. I think Christmas card where the ones we did at school. We also did decorations for the door of our classroom. So, the thing was to compete between classrooms, every class should make their best effort to decorate the door, and a jury would choose which door was the best. We had a lot of fun decorating, but also putting our teacher on her nerves hahaha.

A step by step tutorial on making this angel figure is needed. I think @cmone should provide this. Making a vblog on the same will make money too. This is an idea that am giving out.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ballyhara
Agree. I would totally look for a YouTube tutorial to do this. And in fact, that's what I always do on a daily basis, if I ever have some doubt about some homemade stuff, I just check an online tutorial, and problem is solved.

I think I have to give a try making some angel decorations. I never tried this before but it seems like easy to do. It looks great for the Christmas season. Thanks for sharing this, I have now some ideas of making some decorations.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

So do I. I want to give it a try as well. It looks very nice and yet it can be a good source of money. I can sell it online and I am sure many will get interest to it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

superlicca
Yeah, that is right! It is also good to sell online. But I think I will have to practice first of doing this and have my own designs before I sell it online. The materials for doing this are not expensive that is why you can sell it at a cheaper price.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Yeah so do I. I need to watch tutorial videos regarding to this. I am interested to know how they did it. Selling this should be in cheap price.

That is a cute angel. My mother loves collecting angel figurines and that is great idea to make as a gift for this coming Christmas. I think that is also a good idea to earn extra income as you can sell it as gifting goods or table designs. Especially, it is handmade and people could appreciate it more. You could offer different designs as you have to think many designs to create.

Yes, I have some talented friends who sell their handmade crafts on Etsy and do quite well with generating some income from there. If you’re good at creating things it could certainly be an avenue to explore.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

cmoneyspinner
Etsy is definitely the site to go to sell your handmade. Not sure if your friends already know but Etsy is a preferred merchant on Tumblr. They make it very easy for entrepreneurs to sell their products via Tumblr. They might want to create a Tumblr account and advertise. Just sayin'.

These angel crafts are very fun to create. Some of these could actually sell. But from where I come from, we are much accustomed to making parol: stars made from bamboo sticks. You would pretty much see this decor on each house every Christmas.

I would love to see a picture of parol if you have one to share - they sound like lovely decor!

Fun Arts and Crafts : Making AngelsParol could be as simple as this. This is a basic pattern that you could commonly see during Christmas. Back when I was still studying, we are always asked to this as project for students.

But you could always use your creativity and elaborate your designs.
Fun Arts and Crafts : Making Angels

Without being said there are also parol made for commercial. An example is this:

The second picture was the same as the parol we designed for our project in our major subject when I was still a college student. But we used newspapers and straws with barbeque sticks with tiny stones and eggs shells that served as the design texture with belen at the middle of the star. I missed those days where in I had to sleep over to my classmate just to finished the project.

That christmas lantern looks very hard to do it by yourself. It requires so much materials to use. It is very nice and looks amazing too.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

emiaj55
Actually it is hard to do by yourself. Procuring every native material is already a tedious job. But after seeing the result, it sure is satisfying, don't you think?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
I can tell that it is really hard to do and it takes I think a week or two before you finish it. Selling this kind of christmas lantern would be a little bit expensive because of the used materials and the time of doing it too.

Thanks to being educated by the comments in this thread mentioning the parol. I had no knowledge of this tradition. Yesterday and today when I was viewing posts on Tumblr I came across many lovely shared images. I'm going to reshare them via my blog.

Wow! It's the pride of our country. It's very uplifting in the spirit to see Christmas lanterns displayed outside every house in your place. It's like they're giving you joy while you walk on the streets.

Oooh it is about time to make my Christmas wreath and I ordered some cards to make cards with. This year I am using ladybirds to do the writing as I found some really cheaply on Amazon. I will be off to the site you mention and working out if there is anything I can do with my grandson. Our family is artistic and crafty and at one time I believed we were very poor as mum kept on making things. Turns out she just likes doing so. Her latest project at 85 is to revamp a collage of a lamb she made years ago. That is, when she is not renovating her kitchen with scraps of something or other she found in a junk shop!

Fun Arts and Crafts : Making Angels

That's a great project, cute angel by the way. If you're into crafts, this is a good time to choose a Christmas project since it's already mid November. I'm not really into crafts. I would rather buy a ready made ornament than make one from scratch because I really don't have the time to do it.

The truth is that it takes a lot of time, commitment, dedication and effort to achieve craftsmanship. Making those lovely props which you call already made is never easy.

If you know how much time and effort that was invested into making them, you are definitely going to be shocked. Sometimes, these crafts aren't sold what they are worth in my opinion.

I really love DIY any kinds of crafts that really gets my interest all the time. As far as i remembered, i never make a angels yet from our school. But we are more on designing a farmer's hat, creating crafts from recycle plastic, straws, cups, mail divider, and we used it as a decoration for our classroom. I more on using newspaper, i love making baskets using newspapers.

I actually grew up in a rural area where we taught a lot of things especially when it comes converting and crafting something out of nothing.

I was taught how to use palm fronts to make broom and it's was something that I was very proud of. Even hand fans as well. I don't miss out making new brooms anytime I travel to the village.

Personally, I don't think I could ever forget my childhood memories. They are filled with lots of love and memorable experiences especially with the kind of playing activities we all participated in. Making angles is the least of such things. We even engaged in plays of burying ourselves in the beach sands. But I do enjoy molding with mud clay a lot.

Well, I am very fond of arts and crafts since my schooldays. I am good when it comes to drawing but arts is something that I have always found to be difficult for me. I think if you have got a good hand at arts and preparing beautiful objects like this angel, then you must concentrate on such projects. However, if you are not good at it then it will take a lot of time and effort to do such things. Well, I would prefer to draw a picture of an angel instead of creating one with my own hand Fun Arts and Crafts : Making Angels

Honestly I am not good on some hand crafts since I don't have much talent or skills from it but the I am still enjoying it even though my creation is not that good compare to those professional on these kind of work arts. Even in drawing activities I am not also good maybe I can say that I am only on the average, but despite of these I am trying my best to improve on those field of studies in my best ability.

Doing arts and crafts really takes a lot of my time. In order for me to finish one, I would need to spend half of the day or even the whole day just for that. The best thing about this though is that I enjoy every second of doing it. I really love arts even when I was a child. It's kind of weird though because none in my family have the same hobby as me. I have tried making angel handicrafts during Valentines Day and Christmas.

When I was in middle school we had a similar project like this! Our teachers gave us wooden blocks in the shape of an angel, where the wings were cut out and filled with chicken wire. We were then given the materials to decorate those wings, like filling the chicken wire with beautiful ribbons in all kinds of colors. They also gave us a wide variety of paints so we could choose the color of our angels. Mine ended up being silver, with white ribbons for the wings.

Even though it was a really simple and quick project, it has always stuck with me and I can always remember making it. I've also always kept the angel and still keep it safe so I can look at it from time to time. I'd definitely recommend it as a fun, little project to do with younger kids!

When I was a little boy I would pick a bucket full of pine cones in November. I along with my brothers and playmates would then paint it silver and gold, this would then be used as Christmas tree and Wreath ornaments. I always remember washing my hands with a lot of soap because of the paint.

I enjoy doing arts and crafts every now and then, it's a great way to de-stress and immerse yourself in creativity by making pretty things. I only did an angel sketch for an art project back in high school and that's the only angel project I've ever done. I mentioned before that I only made a star or parol but I just remembered now that I made an angel craft out of clay.
