How do you come up with ideas?

Graphic design is as much of an art as music, painting, drawing, or sculpting. How do you get your ideas flowing when you need to pitch a project to a client?

I come up with ideas of earning money online, because it's a lot easier to access, and you don't need to leave your place just to earn some money.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

nrnlss
I agree with you, that's really how I feel because i don't want to go outside most of the time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jayjaydimson
Yes, if you will go out at night and make your mind so peaceful, you will have a better idea about what is happening.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Wenkx03
I agree with you. A peaceful walk would help clearing your mind. It really open your mibd for new ideas.

I can relate with this when it comes to creativity getting out and moving around the neighborhood can really be inspiring. One can get an idea from the environment.

I know what you mean. It's so much more convenient to do stuff online. As long as you know what you're doing, you can make a decent living out of it. Simply put in the time and effort. You'll go far in life.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Alymae
True. It is easier and more convenient to have a job online. You can make it anywhere and anytime you want. You can also have a full-time job while doing online jobs. As what @Steve5 said as long as you know what you are doing and you are good at it, then you'll make a decent income out of it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's the reason why many like it. It's something we can do at the convenience of our homes. Definitely something office workers can accomplish for additional income.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Alymae
Yes. I am doing online jobs and also a regular office job. It is tiring and time consuming. Having both really is hard work but it means more income to help my family. I love both jobs and I learn a lot too.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Wenkx03
I think thats right. As long as you know what you do and putbso much effort. I think you should do well.

Yes, so true. It's more convenient to stay at home most especially now a days, we don't know how harmful outside is so for me it's better to be at home. It also saves time and money since you have to pay for some ride and food.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's right. The ride fare can get pretty expensive for most workers. I'm not sure about dangerous. But it does help you avoid unnecessary inconveniences you might stumble upon outside. You'll be working safely within your area.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

edencaga
Well in our area there some bad guys roaming around most especially at night. This place is a semi urban and semi rural. I have heard a lot of news near in our place about rape and holdup. Paying an expensive ride is also one of those things.

Sometimes money can be a source of motivation. Whenever I need money, I become overly motivated to find ways and ideas to make or earn money.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's funny. I think all of us are motivated by it. I mean, who wouldn't want to earn from doing something we love? I'm glad that there are many opportunities right now.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Wenkx03
Exactly. Money is a good source of motivation. The more money you earn from it. The more motivation you'll have to earn more.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Enyi
Yea,I laugh at people that says money doesn't inspire them when our purchasing power comes from money. Money has made one have a perfect idea of how to get things done excellently.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
That's the best part of working online. You don't have to leave the house in order to work. Also, you don't have to deal with the traffic and high fare prices as you will just need to stay at home to work.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's what I also like about online work. You have the time to focus on your family and other necessary errands while at home. That's because you're not stuck in the office the whole day.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
Absolutely. I am a working student and I love working online as I can work in my own schedule. Also, I can still do household chores and still be able to earn money online.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Ideas just flow in and out. It is just like a fresh lake. Water flows in and out leaving the lake fresh. Ideas will come just like that.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Me too. So many people have proven you can earn a decent living online. But they say it's not easy. You also have to put in the necessary work.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You can try to go online as my friend @jayjaydimson has indicated above and look for some of the most searched content and work around that. You can never lack ideas in such a manner by using keywords such as design and logos etc.m

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

nrnlss
I agree with you, there are a lot of ideas online. But, sometimes you need to look around you to generate original ideas.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
If especially you are trying to solve problems that are common within your neighborhood then it is always important to focus on the surroundings and other areas that have had similar problems.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
It's probably the first step. The most common searched content gives us something to work on. Much of our ideas can come from the latest trends on social media. That way we gain organic traffic from people's interest on the latest things.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jayjaydimson
Thank you for giving me some options, I will keep that in mind dude, @Youngshark happy posting.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Happy posting as well my friend and feel free to offer some of your excellent ideas as well. We are here to better one another.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Intensive research too can definitely bring some new ideas to bare. Getting new ideas can come from different researches. It just take a focused mind to bring out the best idea.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I know that my opinion is somehow psychological or personal rather than objective but for me doing something you like while thinking will make the ideas flow a lot more easier. For example, I like to listen to music before drawing something which makes me inspired, relaxed or motivated. This works for me because the outcome is much more better than what I expect it to be. Another way is to look for samples of an artwork which is very accessible in the internet and get an idea or be inspired of how this artworks are beautifully done. That's how it works perfectly for me.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

theresajane
I agree with you. I also think that if you force yourself to come up with ideas by just sitting and staring t your pen and paper, nothing good would come out. Let it flow naturally.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Ideas should be natural if you want them to be good. When you force things they rarely come out as they should but when you are doing other things and a hunch comes to you then it is always perfect.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree with you, there were times where I read first before writing my own.

This one was a great idea on improving your work or catching up some ideas. You simply do what you love and the ideas will be there and you will just to learn from it. Research was also one of the tip you could get on how to easily come up with ideas. Just get some informations and tricks from the others and try to make your own in a unique way.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

researching and browsing about your topic is one way of coming up with more ideas. By browsing you can have an overview on what to do, how to do it or improve it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
Yes I agree with you and that is what I am doing whenever I want to come up with some ideas into certain things that I really don't know. Researching on the web is the best way to improve our knowledge and learning experiences. It can help us to gather facts that we may use for certain articles that we are going to write about and give us a sort f motivation to continue on our work and enjoy what we are doing.

A lot of my graphic design ideas come from exploring local art museums. I’ve got a fantastic arts culture in the area where I live, and new exhibitions are always popping up to give me a healthy dose of inspiration.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
That is a great idea of yours. There are a lot of cool designs that you can really create by visiting a museum as there are a lot of unique things that you can see there. I adore you for using your historical things as your inspiration.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It's great because it both inspires me, gives me something to chat about with friends and family who also love art, and teaches me new things. I'm just fortunate to have quite a few art museums in my area. My favorite is a modern art museum which always has really cool and quirky pieces on display.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
That's good for you. Good thing that you have friends you can share your museum experiences about. I really want to go to a museum also, visiting one is something that I also enjoy. I could also remember that I visited a museum alone before. Eventhough I'm all alone, I still enjoyed my visit in that museum.

Sometimes it will be hard to get a good idea to use as a design. What I usually do is that, I would take a walk outdise or go to a some place to relax and think about it. I also search through the internet to gather some ideas that I could use.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Taking a quiet time to think about a good design is something that is necessary for us as well. When you are looking for a good design, you always have to do something that is very important which is reflecting on a good idea for it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Making a space for you think is important. You also have to spend some time for you to go to the places that might help you to gather some ideas that may help you to create such designs. Stressing out will never help you create your best design.

Keeping the ear to the ground will give you great ideas. Ideas will come from nature, on the net, with people you meet and many other places. A human mind can be triggered with anything.

Interesting, in my case too I just think of random stuff and see possible scenarios about that stuff that I first think and it goes from there, other ideas just flows. It's really wonderful when you're in the state of flow, because it's like being in there, getting lost in your thoughts.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Pinterest are flowing with varying ideas from different sources, all of which corresponds to each users interests. A simple click on the motif of your web designs would give you a lot of suggestions. Another platform that looks like Pinterest is We Heart It. It is pretty much like Pinterest.

To research is a big factor on how I come up with my own ideas. I used others work as inspiration. For example, in Graphic Design, I search for other design/designer with the same field or concept. I'm not good in creating my original concept, my imagination is not too strong.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think it just comes naturally. With whatever I do, I just let my mind wander and the ideas just connect with each other and so I can make a plan. I don't really force my brain to think of ideas because it exhausts me so much.

Graphic design is an art which also involves a lot of skill and imagination. I think whenever you try very hard to find some inspiration then it is very likely that you will find none. However, when you don't get worked up then it is very likely that you will find that your mind will work very efficiently and you will come up with magnificent designs and ideas for your project. You can also get inspiration from the work of other designers and you can use it to create your own unique design

Yes that is really true and could a great source of knowledge and ideas that might help us to achieve something. Having some great backgrounds could give us an idea about certain things. I more on thinking what can be the topic I want then I start to check more information about it, research it, read about it, then once i gathered all what i need then that's the time I start to imagine on how i can make it really like whats on my mind. Its easy if you're an artist and full of imagination.

Whenever I'm lacking inspiration, I visit sites like Pinterest or other image sites. Here I collect images that inspire me in whatever way so that I can use them in the future. This way I can just open up the site when I'm ready to work on a project and view everything I've gathered, without having to put energy into finding new images when I don't have a lot of time in that moment.

It can also help to trigger your mind into a creative workflow. I try to do this by creating habits whenever I go to work. For example, I like to light the same incense or drink a specific type of tea so that the scents and flavors get me into the right mindset!

I always talk to my clients to ask because sometimes they have request and they already have a specific idea in their mind and all i have to do is add a bit on it.
By communicating with your client it will help the both of you, its like you are just having a collaboration and this will also avoid misunderstanding and will build a good relationship and rapport to your clients that might lead to loyalty. He/she might recommend you to his/her other aquiantance and if he/sge happen to have another project he/she might still choose you.

I majored in Graphic Design and Advertising when I went to college, and there were a decent number of tips and tricks that me and my peers picked up along the way.

One of the main strategies I use is an organized process of brainstorming. With the client in mind, I write down everything that I associate with their brand, and then I start making possible connections in order to create fundamental ideas. Then after I’ve cherry picked some possible candidates, I start doodling some thumbnails in order to visualize my ideas. From there it’s just a process of elimination and refinement until you reach the final product.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's really cool. You sound so professional. This reminds me of the novel writing process. You start off with some plotting. You organize everything down to the most minute details. Then you start writing drafts.

Then, comes the editing. Until it all comes down to the final draft. The common point of all great things is the stage of refinement.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

DenisP
Thank you for the compliment! And you make a good point about the refinement process.

A lot of people think that designing or writing something is a matter of thinking something up, putting it on paper (or on screen rather) and you’re done. I don’t know a single person who does it that way, because you’d have to be some sort of genius to do so.

You have to start with a rough idea and then just keep on polishing it until it shines.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

stbrians
You do well then. It is great that you are a graphic designer. So designing for you is quite simple. Then you are an advertiser too.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

DenisP
Thank you for the compliment! While wouldn’t go so far as to say that designing is simple for me, it’s definitely a simplified process when you have a format that you can use to create ideas. Most people assume that designers just come up with an idea in their head, and that’s what becomes the finished product. The truth is that it’s a lot of trial and error—testing to see what works and what doesn’t—and constantly polishing things until you get to the final product.

As for advertising, design and advertising go hand in hand, since being familiar with good design is a necessary part of being able to effectively advertise a product.

Ideas comes to me in a flash so I have myself always ready with my notebook and pen so that every time an idea strike in my head. I am ready to write it down as soon as possible so I can remember it. It is also advisable to work on it immediately every time an idea pops out from your head in order for us to maintain momentum because idea is an inspiration which has an expiration. So be sure to use that idea as early as possible before it will become the idea of others.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's really inspiring. I thought about it too. It's kind of like waking up from a dream. You have these wonderful thoughts floating in your mind. And then in a few moments time, they're gone.

So it's really important that we write them down. The good news is that you may remember them even after you forget. It depends on how memorable your idea was.

Clients already have an idea in their mind and I agree with what others have written that indeed we need a good communication skills in order for us to pick what kind of idea our client already has in their brains. It is our job then to tap those idea and present it to our client visually. If you are going to do this provide your clients with 3 or more options of graphic design so that your client have many options that he can use and eventually you getting more clients because of referral because you have satisfied this particular client.

Ideas come from so many different avenues. I can be asleep and dream up something weird or unusual and a fresh concept will come out of it. Taking a shower, walking down the street, driving my car, all of those normal things are ways to enrich my artistic zone. It's only when I don't bother to use those concepts that they fail me. I forget to write them down, or sketch them out, and then they're just gone, or they don't seem as important anymore. I have to keep myself in the creative mode or things will escape my grasp.

The land of dreams is indeed a place where creativity and inspiration resides. And yes the shower too! You should always have a small notepad and a small pen to carry around with you everywhere. I come up with many ideas right after just waking up, when my body is calm and relaxed, and there's no distractions, I can just imagine and focus on that design or logo that I wanna create and the energy will just flow and I will go and do it immediately before stress arises.

I often get ideas from nature and my surroundings. For example I get inspired just by looking out the window and observing my neighbors. I also get inspired by movies, shows and music. it could be the story of a film that gets you or a single shot or scene that will make you think of different scenarios and ideas.

Sometimes I am motivated to acquire ideas whenever I am not experiencing a lot of problems in my mind because it helps me to think well. Having a lot of problems prevent us to have some great ideas that are very helpful at some time. It is very important to eliminate problems first for us to have a peace of mind and so that we can think immediately for some ideas that would benefit us a lot.

I usually explore on things that will inspire me. A young boy will only desire to have a ball if he saw another kid playing a ball and that's the start of his desire to have a ball. The same is true in getting an idea. Sometimes you have to explore on the things that will make you desire on something and it will free your imaginations.

It's hard to come up with ideas, especially when you're extremely busy with your daily routine and job. Usually ideas come up randomly, it's rare when I sit down to think about an idea and it will eventually come up. I think having numerous ideas is like a talent, and to be more precise, a talent of creation. But it's like the work of an artist, very random.

It is good to start early in the morning because it is fresh and very cool to think about. It makes me think easily since it is very calm and peaceful which makes it good to have.

Whenever I run out of designs but needed to meet my deadline, I always find inspiration from looking out the window. The busy street has some hypnotizing effect on me that my mind drifts wherever. As a result, my mind seem to work on the project I am working on subconsciously. Works for me everytime.

I came up with new ideas when I see a lot of artistic things around me. It is like giving me motivation out of the art of other people.
